All of the LAPD Caprices that respond to the Cyberdyne building magically turned into 1981-1985 Chevrolet Impalas when they were getting shot/blown up by the Terminator. Here is the first shot were the Impalas replace the Caprices:![]() Impalas getting destroyed: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Convertible version: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Notice that before the Terminator destroys this particular car, there is already a hole in the window. The projectile was probably guided by a wire through the window: ![]() ![]() And another one is briefly seen in the background as a security car at the mental hospital: ![]() -- Last edit: 2013-01-08 09:55:42 |

Well, not exactly magic. These are the designated pyro cars. |

It's because in early-1991 (when the scene was filmed), the Impalas were old and out-of-date police cruisers, while the Caprices seen elsewhere in the film were all mid/late-1980s models that were still contemporary police vehicles for the time (albeit on the verge of being replaced themselves, by the 1991 Caprice body style). I'm guessing that these were all old Impalas donated by a PD to the production specifically to be shot up and blown up for the scene. -- Last edit: 2024-12-06 19:34:40 |
