hughie522 ◊ 2007-03-09 11:41	According to the DVD special features (on 'Dawn of the Dead'), the Volkswagen was 'borrowed' (free of charge!) from a local dealership (after much begging and pleading, mind you). It was later written-off in a crash on-set (that's why the scene ends a little adruptly in the film) where the production crew quickly learnt that Volkswagen + concrete column = trouble. The best part of this story, though, is that Romero, his production crew and the distributor never paid a CENT. The car was provided free and they never reinbursed the dealership for the loss! Funny or what?! :P

car nerd ◊ 2007-04-18 22:27	I had a 78 Scirocco. Midnight blue and gold interior. Great little car except that is was a magnet for every stereo thief within a 100-mile radius!

Excalibur ◊ 2007-08-22 20:18	I don't see any reason to call the Scirocco a coupé, as it IS technically a hatchback. It's like calling a Cadillac Escalade a "sedan"

Ollygt ◊ 2012-11-19 11:33	If you wanted to be nit picky, its technically a "Lift back" due to the angle of the rear windscreen being less than about 70 degrees and only having part of the rear lip rise up with the rear window but not the actual tailgate so as to preserve body rigidity, sports cars tend to use this design. Hatch backs tend to have the whole tail swing up as well as the rear windscreen and the rear windscreen has an angle of about 70-90 degrees.
