You don't see a lot of these in England, probably because it's a pretty weird looking car! -- Last edit: 2009-04-18 01:01:07 |

I like the Vel Satis. It's a nice car. -- Last edit: 2009-04-19 07:00:43 |

I also liked it but I wouldn't call it nice, weird is more appropriate as title of distinction.. ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-04-30 11:48:29 |

Only 1400 sold in UK 2002 until discontinued here in 2005 before the Phase 2 facelift; about 1200 still licenced - http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=vel+satis . Very cheap if you can find one. |

Some say it might be a future classic... |

Maybe, but the Renault name limits its desirability over here, no-one's really heard of it here, spares support will be scarce for such low volumes etc. I imagine - like the Avantime - it will end up being regarded as a little-known oddity like the Lancia Gamma, Fiat 130, VW Phaeton, Vauxhall Signum etc. All of which are cars I like to think I might one day, but if I ever did something retro/eccentric I'd probably put Imps/BMW 2002/Sceptre/Lancia Fulvia coupe or 2000 at the top of the queue. In reality, I'll probably never get beyond something like a 4wd diesel Yeti or Legacy. |

"A scene with two girls walking up the street and they stop and chat with a beautiful Vel Satis in full view in the background, I used my reg checker app to find that it's a 3.0 dV6 Initiale. Not sure the rest of the film is worth viewing just to see that though!" from here. |
