Nice find! Must be pretty rare in USA. By the facia with three strips and the Renault losange without a circle it must be a 1955-1957 (last year of the Décapotable). I'd guess 1957, because there's only one hornon the bumper. Made for USA, due to bigger headlights, front indicators and rear license plate light holders. |

A number of cheap European cars were rushed into the U.S. marketplace in the years following the 1958 recession...Goliaths, Opels, Triumph estates and wagons, Ford Cortinas, Citroen 2CVs, BMW 600s, Fiat Jollys, and pretty much everything else imaginable. VW and Volvo both made their entrance into the U.S. market during this time, and have had some staying power. Apart from VW Beetles, most of these older Eurocars haven't lasted too well. Although someone in my town does drive around in a super-nice, mint green restored Renault Dauphine. ![]() |
