@rljuna2: Something for the lamp-specialist - an original half-US and half-EU-version: The new car of my brother-in-law, bought at www.vebeg.de First owner wss the US-consular office in Frankfurt, so due that the strange mixture. It has the sidemarkers at the front and the back, but they aren't connected. The headlights are European and the tachometer in kilometer-scale. |

I don't know anything about Volvos, but I think these always have those side markers (in Holland they are even connected)... |

As you mentioned elsewhere that the cars were brought outside to Germany needed to convert lighting system to meet TÜV inspection as I recalled. There is a car that I mentioned that a 1987 or later Chevrolet Caprice Classic that was used in Germany that is posted here that only thing with these lights on in the night were just the headlights. I didn't see the parking light nor the sidemarker illuminated. |

Yes, this US-system is illegal here. For that I was very astonished, when I saw, ca.1 year ago, a late 90ies US-spec Toyota Corolla, where the sidemarkers and the permanent light on the front indicators were still functional. And that for minimum 10 years, because it had German plates in the old DIN-font, so older than November 2000. Very odd, that it has passed all the biennal TÜV-inspections with that. |
