TR Looks junky, with Kadett E-hubcaps. But it's a worthless car even in perfect condition, similar like the VW Derby. |

That's right, Ingo, but as far as durability is concerned, the Derby was lightyears ahead from the TR. My grandfather drove a Derby for almost 15 years. That car was really a tough one. -- Last edit: 2009-05-08 23:16:14 |

I don't say, that they -mainly the Derby- are bad cars, I mean, that noone pays any money for them. Only for the Hatchback-versions there is a chance to get a few Euros. Ca.8 years ago our local VW-dealer had a absolute perfect Derby II for sale, a grandfather's car with original 11 000 km. It was impossible, even for a few hundred Marks. It was crushed after some months. |

It was probably made in Spain... after the Fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 a lot of Corsas and Polos were bought from all Western Europe and they went to Eastern Europe.. it had some value then. |

And at least in Spain the Corsa has been very reliable, and way cheaper than any VW product.. |

The biggest value for the sellers. In 1990/91 the prices for used cars in West Germany were exploding. Junky wrecks, which would have bee crushed shortly before, were sold for several thousands of D-Marks to the East, where the people had no ideas about the real value of cars. Thousands of GDR-citizens were fooled and cheatened by Western used car-dealers in that times. At least their own fault. Why they had to be so hysterical and must have bought the first scrap, which felt into their hands? No kidding, after July 1990, when the GDR got the D-Mark, the dealer-places in West Germany were absolutely emprty, no cars left at all. But I was very lucky - an orange 1973 K 70 was left in July 1990 - which was getting my first own car. ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-05-09 19:35:37 |

P.S. You're right. The Corsa TR was only built in Spain. |

Did that mean even the Ossies wouldn't have it? ![]() ![]() |

But you're right. It was indeed too old, too rare and too unknown over there (only 9 K 70 were running in the GDR before 1989). Otherwise the "Ossis" have often bought car, a West German hadn't bought. Kia, Hyundai and Proton, stuff, which was unpopular over here, because it had no name. |
