1988-91 Ford LTD Crown Victoria. |

It's actually a 1991 model. |

Obvious Boston Police! |

Strange the way there are no spotlamps and the door-mounted rearview mirrors are set back so far! Is this common to this jurisdiction about the spotlamps, and do all 1991 Ford LTD CV's have the same mirror placement? |

Are you talking about spotlights? Because that's an option that departments get to choose to have. Some departments use them, others don't. If it were so obvious, it would say BOSTON POLICE as their real cars have and not METRO POLICE. -- Last edit: 2009-06-03 22:37:05 |

I think that's what he meant. These look like actual BPD cruisers with the word "BOSTON" replaced, for some reason. |

Found this: Link to "images.google.com" The car in the main pic may have been an ex BPD cruiser dressed up for the film. Note it even has the same BPD lightbar. Only difference is the obvious "Metro Police" and the extra light blue thin stripe on the top of the thick one, which is a shade lighter than the actual BPD stripe. -- Last edit: 2009-07-23 18:35:48 |

Indeed, you're right. I knew it was a "slightly modified" real Boston PD car, but I was just messing with you since I know you like to notice those fine details ![]() |

Yes a little late.....but guys, this cruiser was part of the Metropolitan Police..highly regarded in the early to mid 80's. I actually have a 3 stooges marathon tape of Metro Cops pulling over a drunk driver Curly spoof. They were exclusive to the Milton and Roslindale area's in MA That department was later eradicated and officers were made State Troopers. The barracks were renamed. This was an official car that was retired....no tricks. |

Side mirrors were there since early '80s. The vent window that was there through '89 slighly hid the far back placement of those side mirrors. For '90 and '91 the vent window was gone. |

It's kind of strange seeing the "box"-styled cars being used as late as 1997. |

I'm still using my "box" style car in 2019!![]() |

the car is a 1991 , close to retirement ( depending of the police department ) but not that strange yet ![]() |

Not really. My police department still uses crown vics. Saw 2 yesterday pulling people over. Most are 2011 modls but we still have a few 2006-2008s floating around. |
