A Custom 500 with a V8 bigger than the 289. The big block engine's received a fender mounted badge with the cubic inches in it. Taxi models had either the 240 inline six, or the small 289 V8. This leads me to believe this is a retired cop unit turned into taxi, as often was the case. |

Considering this is a 1966 car and the episode in question aired November 2, 1966, that would be a pretty short time in service for that police car. (edit) Could this be the old Mayberry Sheriff's car repainted? This would be about the time the "Andy Griffith Show" swapped out the '66 squad car for the '67. -- Last edit: 2009-06-16 00:48:30 |
