What is up with bar.ca.gov? How can the plate move @jetta in CA? I thought only personalized ones could move. I thought the plate stayed with the car? The plate can be moved based on the owner. I have my plate moved from one car to another in State of Illinois and State of Georgia as well .gif ":)") |

I don't think that is the way the law works in CA though. I believe the plate stays with the vehicle unless a personalized plate. |

rjluna2 is correct. A non personalized plate can be moved between vehicles owned by the same person. Why it was done? Don't know. Because originally they were just a random collection of numbers and letters. Maybe when the owner was getting rid of the Mustang and buying the 914, transferring the plate over is cheaper than getting brand new plates for the 914? |

I have had my personal plate moved since my 2006 Audi A4. It carries my initials, it looks different from normal, and it conceals the age of the car in GB. |
