How come some Crown Vics have hubcaps like the one above and others have the bare-looking dog dish rims? |

There's always been an option on Crown Victorias of either full wheel covers or simply a chrome center cap. Technically speaking, all Crown Victorias use the same heavy duty steel wheels. It's up to the individual department about what option they want. Sometimes departments chose a different option for different orders. The Philadelphia PD is one of those and that is why some of their vehicles are equipped with different covers. On a side note, the design of the full wheel covers seen on the 2000 model only ran from 1998-2002. And also, the Philadelphia PD changed their graphics scheme in late 2003/early 2004. |

What are these things like to drive? What's the handling and acceleration like? -- Last edit: 2009-08-19 02:38:07 |

They are definitely very reliable cars and can take a beating. The handling and acceleration are both great. It's a rommy vehicle and visibility is excellent (even with a partition separating the front seats from the backseat). These cars only got better in 2003 when the suspension, brakes, steering, and frame were all re-designed. It made them much easier to handle. But of course, they are best when new. After these cars reach a certain mileage (from years of hard use) you can definitely start to feel some problems with them, both mechanically and with things just literally falling apart. This is, of course, from city use. I don't know how the highway patrol types feel about them as far as acceleration and speed go, especially on long stretches of highway. -- Last edit: 2009-08-19 06:37:01 |

What do they do 0-60 in? |

Speaking of a well-maintained one, about 8 seconds. |

Do newer Crown Victoria Police Interceptors still have Kevlar shields for the differential? |

As far as I know, Ford only offers ballistic door panels for the front doors. |
