dayday?, I think both actors drove to an extent a version of the Cars assigned to their respective characters, mostly though - the "Hero Car" - anything else was handled by Paul n Ty's stunt drivers. |

This one racing against the Challenger, strikes me just as pathetic as this, racing against my girlfriends rice-burner. ![]() |

Well, a stock Civic beat a 440 six-pack Challenger in a 1/4 mile race by a split second. If you really think about it, these muscle cars don't really maximize the potential power they have, but I'd still choose the Challenger hands down. -- Last edit: 2016-04-02 17:25:13 |

The correct model year should be 2001. Craig Lieberman confirmed this in his latest video on YouTube. https://youtu.be/xi3aYLdv7eU |

the thing is that 2001 should look like this either they gave it a 2003 look ( to that point why just not taking a 2003 .. ) or he just doesn't know/repeat some info that was given to him ok .. so we have cars with 2003 bumpers and modified tail lights... ![]() 1st mention of a GTS is in 2003 brochure 2001 2002 ![]() -- Last edit: 2019-11-22 23:42:38 |

It's mentioned in the video that aftermarket bumpers were used. As for the trim level, it was not mentioned in the video. I can ask Craig on Instagram to verify it, and I will keep you posted. -- Last edit: 2019-11-23 01:07:22 |

So at around 1:50 in the video, it is said that production (quoting) "started off with four Eclipse Spyders; they were all 2001 models." Also mentioned was that most of them had the 3.0L V6 with 200 HP. According to AutoBlog.com, only the Eclipse Spyder GT came with the SOHC 6G72 engine with 200HP. Like you said, the GTS wasn't available until 2003. That trim was available with 210 HP. Also, in the photo that antp posted above, it looks like Universal Studios identified the car as a 2001 model as well. So based on the information that I reviewed in the video, and the subsequent specifications I looked up, I am concluding that this car is a GT trim, made to look like a GTS. -- Last edit: 2019-11-23 08:02:03 |

The Eclipse Spyder was one of the worst cars in the Fast and Furious franchise, but it had to happen as a package deal with Mitsubishi to have the Evo VII in the film. According to Craig Lieberman, the livery and interior color was chosen by Tyrese Gibson himself, and the original version was even worse. It was purple with spider web graphics down the side and a yellow interior. Gibson hated it, claiming he ain't driving no Lakers car. |
