I didn't think much about it before, but after seeing several memes comparing it to a "suspicious stoned vampire" I'll never look at the rear of a '59 Chevy the same way again. My comment was a reference to a quote from Zoolander, which is often coupled to a more well-known, yet unrelated picture of an Asian squinting at a tiny piece of paper. -- Last edit: 2024-03-31 14:40:02 |

The reason the VIN decoder thinks it's a Biscayne is the simple reason that it treats 1958 and 1959 VINs as the same. And indeed they do follow the same pattern, but the VIN decoder forgets that the 1958 model year had the Delray as part of the 1100/1200 series (A/B), with the Biscayne slotted above it as the 1500/1600 series (C/D). For 1959 the Delray was discontinued and the range moved downwards, with the new Impala model on top, meaning that the Biscayne was now the 1100/1200 series (A/B) and the Bel Air was now the 1500/1600 series (C/D). |
