This one is a mystery. The style of body suggests a date of 1909-11. The concept of a big single gas headlight suggests an earlier date - circa 1904 or earlier. The radiator is painted which is very unusual for a pre-1914 car and doesn't look big enough to cool a big engine. At least the wheels are big, which suits the era which I presume is pre-WW1. |

Do you see a convertible top? |

but it isn't a coupe for sure as no roof |

With no roof and no ragtop it's a Phaeton. (Later Convertibles or Hardtops were also called Phaeton, or even named by the car maker, without being a Phaeton in the original meaning of the word. Don't think @antp has this class, though) |

"convertible" category is fine for convertibles, hardtops, phaetons and roadster; there is not real need to have separate categories |

I think what @3loader was missing could be a roof - you would expect that on a convertible - there is nothing here to convert. (As a category here, convertible works just fine - whether it's a hard top, convertible, drop head coupe or convertible coupe ![]() |

I might be going crazy, but I think it's this Laurin & Klement from the Samohyl (famous Czech collector of old cars) collection, with light modifications like a replaced radiator, fake horn, removed top and added headlights: https://www.autokaleidoskop.cz/files/201506/20150602-194917.JPG On the net its pics go by a million different model names and years, hence why I only said 'Laurin & Klement' The movie was filmed in Vienna, not far from the CSSR... |

Origin should be Austria-Hungary, it is indeed a prewar car. ![]() |

After Prof. Samohyl's death, his collection was turned into a vintage car rental: http://www.moviecarszlin.cz/en/?view=moviecars&start=15 1907 Type F then. With such detailed history of the car and such a professional layout they surely know what they are talking about. -- Last edit: 2018-09-02 13:03:41 |
