Is the model name 'Nomad' or 'Bel Air Nomad' [2429]? |

Indeed, it is listed as 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad despite absence of side trim. |

All '55 - '57 Nomads are Bel Air models, i.e. there are no 210 Nomads or 150 Nomads. From 1958 through 1972, the Nomads were no longer a special body style but rather just a trim option on the station wagon models. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Nomad name was used for a trim package on Chevrolet vans. '55 - '57 models are usually just referred to as "Nomads", rather than "Bel Air Nomads", although the latter term is not necessarily incorrect. |

The 'Nomad' nomenclature was used for the top of line full size station wagon from 1958 until 1961. The 'Nomad' nomenclature was used on the lowest trim level for 1968-72 Chevrolet Chevelle station wagon series. As for the 1955-57 'Nomad' series, I am not sure if the administrator would use this as 1955-57 Chevrolet Nomad, but as 1955-57 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad for clarity purpose. ![]() Comments? -- Last edit: 2011-01-01 01:07:12 |

The term "Bel Air Nomad" is not technically incorrect, but as a member of a Reno Classic Chevys for the past 25 years, and having several friends who own Nomads, I have to say that I have never heard anyone use that term. Everybody just calls them Nomads. |
