Who doesn't want a GTO? GTOs are so easy to identify the year of....When my Grandpa was young he only got GTOs. |

[quote=explorer4x4] GTOs are so easy to identify the year of....quote] How you make difference between '66 and '67 without looking on engine? |
explorer4x4 ◊ 2006-03-28 09:34 |
I would need the cars to show you the differences but mainly very small differences in trim and a few other odds and ends in the exterior and interior. But the 66 and 67 GTOs and 68 and 69 GTOs are kind of hard to tell apart. |

The GTO received mainly only a mechanical upgrade for 1967, however, the front grille was changed to a chrome wire mesh, the rocker chrome trim was widened and the emblem formerly on the fender was moved onto it (this is obviously the easiest identification possibility). Also, the taillights and surrounding sheet metal were changed. To tell apart a 69 GTO from a 68 GTO is easy: The 69 was shorn of the vent windows the 68 still had, much to the dismay of smokers. It also had less obvious new grille inserts and a new rear bumper. |

Junkman, you must be on this site www.hotrodders.com ! |
◊ 2006-03-30 02:05 |
I've never heard of that site, but thanks! Well, I sure know a thing or two about GTOs, Camaros/Firebirds, Corvettes and Imperials after 20 years of restoring them. How quickly these 20 years flew by! I just cannot believe that a 67 Goat is an almost 40-year-old machine by now and I am an old idiot! |

Junkman; Excellent, highly detailed description of the differences between a 66 and a 67 Goat ![]() |

Anytime... Ha,I cannot believe in that too,so I'm young idiot! |
◊ 2006-04-06 18:49 |
I could'nt believe it too, and I'm probably younger ![]() I LOVE old car's (and some new) |

I prefer this version more that the 'bling' version from the second movie. |
◊ 2006-11-05 07:33 |
i agree with carfan. |
◊ 2006-12-24 09:45 |
The second design? Barf. The front end is so twisted and warped beyond recognition, it just doesn't stick to that good old GTO style. And don't EVEN get me started on that chameleon paint job. Yecch! |

I like the part where the top blows off and it becomes a convertible. (that is one bichin' car) -- Last edit: 2007-03-27 09:19:54 |

If you look really close you'll see that the car has sidepipes AND rear exhaust in the later scenes when it's been modded. Also, it's an automatic. Nyah-nyah... Vin Diesel can't shiiiiifffffffffft. *snicker* |

I know good old John Z named his awsome creation after the Ferrari GTO |

I'm sorry but I disagree. This GTO should have 5 stars. This car truly is a main character in this movie. It's Vin Diesel's true leading lady. 5 stars are reserved for cars like the General Lee and the Bandit Trans Am, but in my opinion this car deserves to be in that class. Yeah the movie's not as big but this GTO is just as important to this movie as those other cars were. If you'd watch the special behind the scenes features you'd see how much care and thought and work went into choosing, designing, and creating this car because of how important it was to the movie. Plus it's a drop dead gorgeous 67 GTO driven by the worlds biggest bad ass in Vin Diesel. Those facts alone earn this sexy honey 5 stars. And that's not an opinion, that's a fact Jack. |

You look at the Grill. '65 was the first year for Stacked Headlamps, it Had a Split Rectangular Grill, '66 GTO the Grill Slanted towards the Center |

I love GTO's but don't know a lot about them. Was this one a Judge? |
◊ 2023-04-25 23:16 |
No, The Judge option was available only from 1969-1971 |
