Could be a '88 based on real looking license plate. Or a '86 or '87. |

I'm not sure how we missed this detail but 1986 L trimmed models appear to have an all black waterfall grille per the brochure: http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Ford/Taurus/Ford_US%20Taurus_1986.pdf - I haven't seen one with that grille yet and googling "1986 Ford Taurus L" did not shed many results either. Also, it appears (have not validated yet) that 1986 L/GL may just say Taurus on the front doors without a trim badge? Could the trim badge have been added for 1987 as well? Again only from viewing the brochures is where I am pulling the information from. The waterfall grille may have been removed early on or the image they showed was an early production model that never made it too salesroom floors |

@Terra. The grille never made it to production per the taurus forum here: https://www.taurusclub.com/threads/1986-taurus-base-ribbed-grille.213394/ will revert to 1986 pending door badging evidence to show early models did not have trim levels on the doors. |
