Seems that it is a GTI (written on the side) |

The IMDB says this was filmed in South Africa, Namibia and Germany (and all the screenshots look like South Africa or Namibia -- apart from anything else the cars are driving on the left), so I would have thought that this Golf was South African not Brazilian. The image quality is too poor to read the number plates, but black text on a yellow plate is consistent with either South Africa or Namibia in 1990. |

Yeah, but there were no four-door MKI GTIs. |

If it was filmed in SA, you are of course correct that it must be a Golf I. |

The 1.6 Golf Mk1 still sold in Souyth-Africa is a 4/5-door I think. But it is not called GTI anyway -- Last edit: 2006-03-14 13:20:55 |

1982 saw the arrive of the 4 door Golf GTI Mk1. It was only sold in Germany, and the picture's car is NOT a Golf GTI. Look closer. The Golf GTI never was sold in this blue. The right blue was the Helious Blue. |

Another thing. Look at the rear window. ¿Anyone can say the wrong thing? |

The Citi Golf name was introduced in 1984. South African Mk 1s made before then are not Citi Golfs. Link to "www.motoring.co.za" Since this car has "Citi" on the side, it can't be older than 1984. |
