280Z? |

I think it's a 260Z, the 280Z had differently shaped side windows. |

based on the bumpers - this is either a 1974.5 260z, or a 1975-76 280z. there's no visual (exterior) difference between the late 260z and the early 280z, save for the number on the badges (that's too blurry to read). as for the window line, there's no difference between the 260z and the 280z bodies at all - windows included. the 2+2 cars of either model would have different quarter/sail windows than these (as this is a 2 seater), and the 280zX models from 1979 forward would be different entirely, but all '74 (260z) and '75 through '78 (280z) glass is interchangeable with any other z with the same number of seats. really... the same truth applies all the way back to the beginning of the 240z line (1970), with the exception of the fact that the proper rear window for the '70 and '71 cars has vertical rear window defroster lines rather than the later horizontal elements. -- Last edit: 2009-11-04 01:24:38 |

Sounds good to me, I guess lots would have to be renamed (I could probably easily find those to rename from 260 to 280 by searching in your comments) |

if it would help... i could easily enough go through and mark the late ones as "1974.5 260z or 1975/76 280z" in new comments - at some time that it would be convenient for you (or someone else who can) to change them to 1975 models and move them to the 280z group... |

I changed few already. Others either did not have a comment from you or were true 1974. Do not hesitate to post a comment to those that have to be changed, but when you post the same comment on different page you can make it shorter, i.e. just year & model, no need to repeat the explanation on each page ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-11-02 15:06:20 |

we have 2 different Z-Cars here. the main car and the car in the first 3 thumbnails in the last comment is the 1974.5 260Z/1975-76 280Z (wearing non-turbo factory alloy wheels from the 1979-80 280ZX S130). the car in thumbnails 4-6 (and probably 7) is a 1977-78 280Z with the later style bumpers and the vents in the hood (wearing Western [or similar] turbine mags). |
