The manufacturer is Norinco. |

It is actually 674 Factory (Harbin First Machinery Building Group Ltd)- but I'm not sure which name to list it under. -- Last edit: 2009-11-05 07:03:29 |

That is a division of Norinco. |

Norinco was not established until 1980, and Type 62 tanks had already been in production for 20 years at that point. |

If the model is so old, then 674 Factory would be correct. |

This doesn't make a very good M26 Pershing |

I think this prop vehicle is based on a Soviet Ia-12 tractor chassis or a Chinese built tractor patterned after the Ia-12, not a Chinese Type 62 tank. |

The Internet Movie Firearms Database says both this and the Sherman are built on Type 62 chassis. http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/Assembly_%28Ji_jie_hao%29#Fake_Tanks |

It is from the inventory of Beijing-based August 1st Film Studio: The tank prop was built for another Chinese made Korea war movie titled The 38th Parallel North (never released). The chassis has yet to be identified, but most likely from a bulldozer or tractor. It is definitely not from Chinese made Type 62 or any other tank model. The road wheels are clearly not strong enough to withstand the weight of tank body. It is also not from Soviet Ia-12 (Ya-12). No record shows China ever brought any Ia-12 or made any licensed copy. |

Made for Movie M26 Pershing. I don't think the chassis is anything real, it's custom. It doesn't even have a drive sprocket. |
