@cl82: no, the former VW-plant in Westmoreland/PA was closed years ago. Since then there was no VW-production in the USA any more, only in Mexico. The T4 was built in Hannover and in Poznan/Posen in Poland. And -which nearly unknown- for the local market in Taiwan (in disgusting quality, as my Japanese friend has told me). btw.: what cars has VW made in USA? The plant was built for the Typ 1. The Rabbit and Rabbit Pick Up are well known US-VW-products. As far as I know, they also made the Typ 2 (T1 and T2. But T3? ), but no 1500 or 1600 Typ 3, no 411/412, no Dasher, too. -- Last edit: 2009-11-16 11:51:26 |

![]() But several datas aren't correct. Just by a short overwiev I've seen these mistakes: - in Australia also the Golf MKI was assembled, the VW T2, too. - Karmann Ghias were only made by Karmann itself, not in Brussels and not in Emden. - in Salzgitter were assembled the K 70, a few Typ 1 and the first Passat I, but not the T3. The production of complete cars there stopped in 1975. - as I know, in Emden only the Passat was/is made, and a few Typ 1, but no Audis. - in Hannover was built the T3 -the most of them- and the Crafter, too. - never heard, that Karmann has built Ventos. - in Nigeria also the Typ 1 and Typ 2 (T1 and T2) were made - a few Typ 1 were assembled in Neckarsulm, too. - in Sarajevo the Typ 1 -the plant was made for that-, the Golf I and the Golf II and -the most known Yugoslavian VW, the Golf I-based Caddy. - Steyr-Daimler only made the 4x4-versions, at least all 4x4-related parts, too. - In Uitenhage many VW Typ1 were made, T2 and T3, too. AFAIK some Type 4, too. And many Golf I, Citi Golf and Jetta. - it's not verified that the K 70 was also made in Wolfsburg, as I know not. |
