The leading vehicle is a Vauxhall Cadet of 1931- then a new model and stylish for the time in 'Detroit' fashion. The Green car could be a Talbot 14/45 although the bonnet line seems too low (the spare wheel should not rise above it) and these cars did not usually have chromed headlamps. A Sunbeam 16 is another possibility. The car is older than the Vauxhall, probably 1929 or 1930. The spare wheel mounted above the running board would be correct for either model. At Talbot, George Roesch would not allow these to rest on the wing or running board and spare wheels were carried on a stanchion bolted to the chassis frame- unlike the Vauxhall illustrated here. The trunk carried at the rear of the Vauxhall is quite interesting. Though beloved of modern classic car enthusiasts, pre- war motorists could not normally be bothered with them and only usually strapped them on (soon to be covered in mud or dust )in cases of dire necessity. Most owners just piled luggage in the back of the body, along with any luckless back seat passengers!
