This rare horror/mystery film features a silver E24 633csi US-spec. The car is used in 2 scenes by one of the main characters. While the owner is examining an object in the road, her BMW suddenly drives towards her at full throttle killing her. Cool but short scene. A few shots of interior before her death. Worth seeing if you're an E24 fanatic. |

I recently studied the scene, and realized it's not an `83. It has the earliest turbine-type alloys. I'd say it's a 1979 633csi. Impossible to read the badge. |

After extensive research, I've discovered the E24 in this film, is the earliest, and rarest of all US E24's...it's a 1977 630CSi. This US E24 naturally has the big US bumpers - but the rear is unique. Only in 1977, the 1st year for the US 6-series, did it have the smaller rear bumper sides. A thin strip of rubber/plastic served as the rear bumper sides, and the rear US marker lamps were installed above, in the sheetmetal of the rear quarter panels. The 1978 US 630CSi and 633CSi had the rear bumper which was larger on the sides, and integrated the US marker lamps. US E24's continued to use this type of rear bumper and rear bumper sides until 1988, when the stubby, body-colored bumpers were used. * Note: the US 630CSi was still available in early `78, until the 633csi replaced it. Other US E24 enthusiasts will notice the earliest US E24's `77-`78 had no passenger rear-view mirror. Also, the `79 US 633csi had chrome/metal between the rear tail-lights. This seems to be the only year which US E24's had this; the `77-`78 and `80-on all had the body color paint between the lights. The early E24's are a very unique breed indeed. -- Last edit: 2006-03-30 21:14:17 |

There is a video-clip available for this 630CSi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrHkQ0B1wCY Worth watching if like the BMW E24 6-series. The scene lasts 2:30. Refer to my previous comments before viewing. This is a VERY RARE 6-series - 1st year in US. Also, check out the original BMW radio with cassette deck - most likely the 1st BMW radio with one. I'd consider this 630csi "the Christine of BMW's". |

For some reason the previous video-clip was removed. Although, the trailer includes part of this scene with the 630csi, 0:40-0:53. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KFEi2GgVEk |
