This movie features Demi Moore, Chevy Chase and John Candy. Stars a fantastic black E23 `83-`84 733i. Modified wheels, air-dam and tinted windows. The car is used in several scenes/chases by Chevy Chase. A MUST for BMW E23 fans! Great shots of car, inside and out. Must add to collection of BMW films! Fantastic close-ups of dashboard, gauges, and interior. Speedometer reads 95-100mph. in one scene. I'm pretty positive these are the real sounds of a BMW 733i - sounds very similar to my 533i. Awesome stunts with this car: wheels lock while braking (tons of smoke), lots of fish-tailing and/or e-brake turns, driven on a dirt and gravel road aggressively, etc... By the way, Demi Moore's character loves this car, and knows the model and engine: "this is a vintage. 733i? 3.3 liter?" - she's partially wrong. It's actually a 3.2 liter. Sorry I have no way to include a photo.

You do not know how to send the photo, or you do not have one? In the first case, you can either send it by e-mail or upload it to www.imageshack.us ;)

I don't have access to digitally record a photo from VHS or DVD, and copy to your site or image shack. Although, I could take a digital photo of the televsion screen with the car on it, and transfer it to the computer, then send the file to you or image shack. Would that work?

I did that for /movie_26921-Remember-Last-Night.html
Not good pics but at least you can see the cars (and also the TV raster lines :D) I plan to upgrade them when I buy a video capture card for my PC. I would suggest this technique only if there is no alternative and then only for rare cars.

Could also be a solution for cars like this BMW since it seems quite important, even if it is maybe not rare.

Agreed, for rare or important cars this technique could be used. The pictures may however require a lot of editing (size, format, etc.) before posting.

This is a beautiful 1983 BMW 733i E23, US specs., one of my favourite Bimmers...
Isn't better use the excellent 53kb thumbnail (the fourth posted by Modell) as main photo? ;)

btw, Modell, I've put your thumbnails side by side instead of 1 per line, as it was making a long list.

Good Job "modell"! I'm very impressed with the photos. Now people can "see" what I described in my first comment. Ah yes, the 733i, a very cool car indeed. I own a 533i, and it'll smoke this car - regardless, they're both fantastic vehicles that you rarely see in good shape anymore.

Modell, did you post the video-clip on youtube? If so, you should include the first scene with the BMW in the parking garage. You know, when Demi Moore admires it (and actually knows what it is - how many woman know what model a vintage BMW is?) and gets in the car. By the way, as said in my 1st comment, Demi says it's a 3.3 liter - it's really a 3.2 - when it comes to BMW badges, what you see is not always what you get.

The photo of the BMW stripped, has the interior and dash of a pre-`83. Notice the rotary climate-control switces, earlier gauges, and cloth/velour seats (probably a Euro). In earlier scenes (when the car is normal) it is a `83-`84 733i.

By the way, I find it funny that they put in a tape when there is no cassette player.

Thanks modell for adding the video-clip. Good observation on the cassette insertion sound - even though the car has an after-market CD-player.

This is definitely my favorite BMW. I love the way it looks with the E24 air dam. I also have to say I was really upset to see the car destroyed at the end of the movie till I noticed that it was a pre 1983 that was destroyed and not the gorgeous 83-84 that was featured in the beginning of the movie. What an awesome car.

The dismantled car is definitely an Euro model (with US bumpers) because it has velour seats. I believe all US spec 733is had leather standard. The complete (beautiful) 733i is a 1983 model. 3 speed automatic (1984 was the first year of the 4 speed automatic in the US) with an ashtray from a 1984 and newer model (wood instead of plastic like the trim on either side that was used on US spec models prior to 1984). I really miss my 733i :(

Can anyone identify the wheels? I think they totally make the look of this car! Would love to be able to locate them...

Does anyone know how to find parts or more information on the ETAK Navigation System from this car? I've been looking everywhere lol.

Mhh, I think the old main picture with the oversteering BMW was much nicer than this (which is not even a proper HD one).
