Poor it!!!! Another muscle car wasted by Hollywood!!!! |

Not really a muscle car, a base model probably with a 318. It was ten years old at the time, and they were only a few hundred dollars then. -KK |

It is indeed a base-level Challenger, probably a 318. There's also a possibility, however, that it could have a slant 6, a 340 small block, or a 383 BB. It is sad to see it trashed through modern eyes, but better to see one wrecked 30 years ago than now. |

I thought it looked like it ran pretty strong in the scene. I remember gas gushing out of the fuel door. |

It still hurt me to see it wrecked then. |

is it typical for US cars to leak fuel during fast corners ???? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2016-12-29 19:08:58 |

Depends on the condition. This one doesn't appear to be in great condition. |

As the Challenger rounds each corner you can tell that the clear liquid in question is not in fact leaking from the filler neck but just below it, which is meant to make you believe that it IS leaking from the filler neck because after the car goes over the edge of the cliff for a brief second you can see clear liquid “gasoline” leaking out of the same spot just before the car explodes. Convenient hollywood plot device. |
