The Batmobile returns looking pretty much the same as before, maybe with a blacker and shinier paintjob. A few new gadgets have been added:

Side-firing projectiles (to knock gang members off their bikes):

The shield from in the first film (although the CGI is better here):

And finally when the Batmobile comes to a narrow gap between two buildings, the sides peel away leaving a slimmer, rocket-like Batmobile:

4 stars or 5 stars?

In terms of screen time and importance within the movie, it would be worth a 4. But given how this is more or less the Batmobile of the 90's movies (the one people think of anyways, not like the stupid and silly ones from Batman Forever, for example), I might give it a 5 because of it's cultural significance.

One of the Batmobiles from the movie is owned by the founder of Chick-Fil-A Samuel Truett Cathy

I just asked because although the same car is 5 cars in the 1989 Batman film, there seems to be a thing on this site where where iconic cars are rated less than 5 stars when they make a return appearance in a sequel, eg. the Aston Martin DB5 in Thunderball (although it doesn't get that much screen time). I wouldn't mind rating this 5 stars, I just wonder what other people think.

I totally agree, I looked again at the Batmobiles on the Batman Forever and Batman and Robin pages and they don't look as cool or menacing as this. And the one from the latest Batman films (Begins and Dark Knight) is just plain ugly.

I like the ones from the latest films because of how the design is more or less faithful to the Batmobile of the Frank Miller comic books. It goes along better with the darker and more realistic approach those movies have taken.

www.starcarcentral.com and www.chicksdigthecar.com for more info on the original and working street legal versions.
In the first Keaton movie, the batmobile was wider than the cars made for the second movie Batman Returns. Several cars were built on various donor frames.
There are now a few working street legal replicas around the world.

Boys, the Batmobile in this movie deserves 5 stars even more than the first one, for simple reasons;
1) it appears more time (you can count it)
2) there is the (in)famous scene where the Penguin sabotates it and Batman almost kills a hundreds of people.
3) You can see more of the interiors, of the cockpit, of the exterior body, of the engine, of the turbine, of the technology and gadgets (more than the first one).
4) Finally, it turns into the Bat-Missile at one point with which Batman escapes from the police, thus proving to have a relevance in the story as a character.

You must rate 5 stars, it doesn't make any sense that this car holds just 4 ones!!! Plus, it's a car made specifically for the movie, not just a stunt car or a scrap that gets destroyed along the way, IT'S THE BATMOBILE!!!! Only Batman drives the Batmobile, if this does not mean being part of the movie, then what should a car do???

Interesting thing to notice, this Batmobile in the second movie has screen wipers, while the first didn't! It's probably one of the few times in cinema history where a team of car builders recognizes something is missing and then add it in a second moment!

5 STARS!!!!!!!!!

The shield makes the Batmobile look like the one from the Animated Series.
