In 1940 , Dodge offered 2 lines ,the Special ( D-17) and the DeLuxe ( D-14) Both series continued to be called " Luxury Liner" altough this term more strictly applies to the 1939 Dodge lines qualified as Luxury Liner and Luxury liner DeLuxe by the factory .The model here is a 1940 Dodge ( Luxury Liner) DeLuxe 4 door sedan ( D-14) on the 119 1/2 inch wheelbase. The Special models had a plain pin stripe instead of the stainless steel belt molding used on the DeLuxe models , smaller hubcaps and no lateral fender guards above the front bumper. The unit here has the running boards that had become optional on all Dodge models by then .Cars with the optional running boards had no rear fender scuff padsas may be seen here. |

You have a lot of knowledge about this model, would you be open to helping me out with questions? I just got a D14 1940 that I'm in the process of restoring. Thanks |
