1970 Plymouth with significant modifications - rectangular headlights, Superbird wing, etc. Could have been any mid-size coupe originally - Road Runner or a basic Belvedere might be the most likely starting points. |

Looks like it began life as a GTX before the square lights and Super Bird wing. |

They could have just as easily added the GTX parts when they were adding the lights and wing, though. |

Satellite, Belvedere, GTX, Road Runner, Superbird, any of them. Another big mod is that the rear wheel well is flared-out. I just noticed it has a Road Runner grille. |

I read somwhere that some superbirds had there noses changed back to regular RR front ends at the dealer to make them easier to sell. -- Last edit: 2011-07-06 02:22:50 |

True, but you can tell immediately because the rear glass is unique to the Superbird. Also, the welded-in support brackets for the rear wing were not removed from the trunk. I saw a battered-and-bruised 'runner in the mid-1980s tooling down the road. When it passed me, I spotted the Superbird glass and tried to chase the guy down to buy the car... but he lost me quick and easy. -- Last edit: 2017-03-14 02:18:20 |
