This is a K70 especially for Ingo! Some extra pictures: |

I'm glad they included this in the documentary instead of the less interesting Passat |

O.k. a K 70 was absolutely to expect, if you see the title of the documentary "Design Classics" Any other opinions? Surely not, eeh? Both, the white and the orangemetallic one, are some of the very first ones from summer 1970. By the background it was filmed at the VW-test-range in Ehra-Lessien. |

I didn't know I was being offensive. In that case, my sincerest apologies. Really, ingo. I never doubt your K70-radar, but I'm not always expecting a K70. I've noticed a pattern with movies on the database; most K70s in movies appear at very remote place if they have nothing to do with the plot, of course. And about design, I think the K70's a great car, but most people I know (even some that grew up in the 70's) have never heard of the K70. When I show them a picture of it, most of them think it's nothing but a boxy and boring car. I'm sorry if you find this offensive, but I share the same thoughts as you - they say the same about the Ford Scorpio, so in my opinion they have an immature taste of cars (Polo, Mondeo, Focus, Golf etc.) I'm just saying not everyone sees the beauty in such cars. Just look what this yoob said about the K70. I know what you think, he's a complete idiot. |

@Lateef: no problem, I wasn't really serious with that. Just a little provocation... And I didn't meant you. Who the f.ck is unixarmy? Noone, worth to be felt annoyed about. Yes, many people don't like the K 70-design, it's a question of the personal taste. And VW didn't liked it, too! It was only a step-child, not an own creation. No kidding, I have a VW-internal salesmen's handbook from 1971, where indeed it was said, that the salesman should't talk too positive about the K 70, expecially not about the space, the trunk, the heating and the suspension - because when the K 70 was offered too positive, they would get problems to sell the 411 (which was really an old car, compared to its direct brother). P.S. But yes, you can find pictures of the K 70 in some books about car-design. And it was a landmark for two companies, as it's the last NSU-construction and the first watercooled VW, resp. the first VW, which was not based on the Typ1. -- Last edit: 2010-03-26 19:56:16 |

I like a lot the VW K70 and prefer it a lot to the NSU Ro80, the opposite of the common tastes i presume... |

No, it's not the opposite. The body-design is a bit different, and the engine, too, but the chassis-construction is quite similar. You can recognize it very good, when you are wrecking both cars side-by-side into pieces. And both cars were developed by the same team in nearly the same time. O.k., the RO was a bit earlier. |
