If no one can get this (it could be any kind of kit car) I'll take it off. It's just I've been really suprised at what people have been able to identify here, like the snowcats in The Shining, they got the exact model numbers! |

Its a dune buggy and probably VW based. We have others listed as dune buggy. See the discussion at: /vehicle_9897-Dune-Buggy.html Put make as Dune Buggy, year/model blank and class as custom. -- Last edit: 2006-04-13 04:46:41 |

As G-MANN said, "I've been really suprised at what people have been able to identify here" BeanBandit proved it ![]() We could list that as a quad, as it is more like a bike with four wheels than a car... -- Last edit: 2006-04-13 13:54:33 |

I don't think its a bike. You ride in it like a car and not on it like a bike. they probably sell it as an ATV (all terrain vehicle) and I still think its closer to a dune buggy than a bike. |

I mean for the engine, etc. i.e. a Quad, no? Or we cannot consider these buggies as quads ? |

Quads and ATVs have a handle bar and a bench seat while Dune Buggies have a steering wheel and bucket seats. http://img.ebigchina.com/cdimg/127372/538790/0/1109384207.jpg http://www.americandreamcars.com/1966vwdunebuggy.jpg |

We could rename the category to "Quad & Buggies" ? Or would it be better to keep them separated? |
◊ 2006-04-13 21:37 |
Buggies are a lot closer to 4x4 or ordinary cars ... remember all the VW based buggies. |
◊ 2006-04-13 21:58 |
Right. But for buggies like this one, I find them closer to a quad... Well, I guess we can list them with cars, that's not a major problem |

Ive ridden in one before, its like a small dune buggy, single seat, butterfly steering wheel, left index finger throttle, right right hand standard motorcycle type brake handle, the one I drove had a centrifugal clutch, later years I believe had 4 speeds. Honda only made them for a few years. way too much fun!!! -- Last edit: 2006-04-13 23:10:59 |

This is a 85 Honda FL350 Odyssey. These were made for only one year in 1985 and had full suspension with a 329cc 2 stroke engine. In 1989 Honda made the FL400 Pilot which only lasted 2 years before being discontinued. I have owned several of each over the years and trust me they more fun than you can imagine. :-)![]() -- Last edit: 2015-10-29 00:32:09 (Sandie) |
