Sorry, guys, but the car shown is not a Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada. In fact it is a way less "ordinary" model. This is a "Targa top" like Bizzarrini Spyder S.I., the VIN is 315S. Only two "serial" cars and one dummy were made. |

You are all very close. It is a 1967 Bizzarrini GT America owned by one of the stuntmen. McQueen and he both had them and would tool around SF during the filming. The GT America was a fiberglass version of the 5300GT that was designed for export to the US. The original car is currently for sale in Oakland, CA. The Spyders were both in Italy at the time of filming. -- Last edit: 2011-05-07 07:28:05 |

According to some sources this Bullitt car was 1967 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada Alloy, chassis #0268 "... a rare alloy-bodied example originally owned by Carey Loftin...a long-running Hollywood actor and stuntman who gained fame for his work as the stunt coordinator for the car chase sequences in Steve McQueen hit movie Bullitt. The car had a very small role in the opening credits of the movie. A short time later, it was in another cameo in the 1968 Walt Disney classic Herbie the Love Bug, another of Loftin's films." Now painted red, sold for $415,000 at 2009 RM Auctions. (http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z2180/Bizzarrini-5300-GT.aspx ). -- Last edit: 2018-10-30 21:04:37 |

It's Carey Loftin's car, and is not a Stile Italia Targa. |

Carey Loftin must've really loved that car. |
