Main pic from Episode 1.16 replaced Do you know if was made in 1956 a special 'Custom' model for Police? The tops in the bumper (pointed) looks 55 but the M badge on the hood and three vertical fingers on grille are for 1956. The side trim doesn't match with 56. Almost looks like they would have to have had a 'police special'. Big piece of chrome missing at front of rear fender. |

"As the 1956 season rolled on, the CHP loaned the production company some of their newer models, including Mercury Customs, Dodge Coronets, and Oldsmobile 88’s. All of these models were two doors sedans, the only body style used by the patrol at the time." Despite the blurred pic, at last, the script on front fender it reads "Custom". Anyhow as Big Dave said above, part of this original side trim is lost in these 'Special-Police' In 1.27 "Motorcycle A" -- Last edit: 2010-05-31 12:47:03 |

plain-jane '56 Merc Custom w/Broddy driving from 1.28 note the subtle bend in the front fender chrome strip as it nears the door. The chrome strip is removed from the door because it would bisect the Highway Patrol emblem. Then it resumes just before the rear fender, but it's blackened along with the faux venting at the rear fender. You can see the rear fender trim in some closeup shots from episode 1.32 (Anti-toxin) -- Last edit: 2014-03-09 14:02:45 |
