All taxi's are fakes, as here, too: /vehicle_303967-Daihatsu-Charmant.html At that pic I thought, also due the size of the back plates, that they are are Swiss taxi's, but Lindau, visible above, is on the German side of the Bodensee, so that Swiss taxi's aren't allowed to wait there for customers. In Germany there's eben the regulation, that taxi-drivers are only allowed to stand and wait for customers in the town, where the have the registration. They aren't allowed to pick up customers outside. And: German taxis in that years always were coloured in "elfenbein", ivory. The "taxi"-lamps aren't German, too. And Peugeot and Japanese cars were quite unusal in the 80ies. There we had mostly Mercedes-taxi's, only a few others more. And since the second "oil-schock" from 1979/80 there were more and more Diesel-cars in use as taxi. In the decades before, the majority were Diesel's, too, but there were more fuel-cars between them. |

They're playing the part of Swiss taxis. The IMDB specifically says that scenes set in Switzerland were filmed in West Germany. (Likewise, London stands in for New York.) I suppose that they deliberately chose non-German models. -- Last edit: 2010-05-24 13:44:00 |
