Not a Corniche, but a pre-Corniche called "Silver Shadow Two-Door-Saloon" built by Mulliner Park-Ward until 1971 when it beccame renamed for Corniche. Pre-Corniche modells can be recognized by the wheel-discs having no ventilationholes |

I don't know where this actual car is, but a friend of mine has one (LHD, imported from the USA in 1999) for sale. Very good condition, white paintwork with tan leather and tan everflex roof |

This is a pre-FSS specification (for the US) Silver Shadow two-door saloon by Mulliner Park Ward. It is finished in Brewster Green with Beige hide. Shadow coachbuilt cars had round reversing lamps, as opposed to the rectangular ones on the Corniche models. In addition, they have full wheel covers with painted trim rings, as opposed to the rim embellishers and spun stainless steel hubcaps on the Corniche cars. The radiator grille is shallower, front to back, on the Shadows, and the facia is different in styling. There are numerous other differences, both cosmetic and technical, on these cars. |

The car is a 1967 Silver Shadow Two-Door Saloon made by Mulliner Park-Ward which is currently in the Peterson Auto Musuem in Los Angeles. |

The actual car was sold at a Bonhams & Butterfields sale of Steve McQueen memorabilia, November 11, 2006. It went for $70,200, including the buyer's premium. It was a 1967, with chassis number CRX2672. Here's some description, from bonhams.com: "This car’s accompanying paperwork shows that it was ordered new in 1967 from Rolls-Royce by Hollywood movie producer Jerry Bresler (1908-1977) whose extensive body of work included The Vikings, Major Dundee and Casino Royale. Factory build cards record that Mr Bresler ordered this left-hand drive Rolls-Royce with numerous enhancements including lowered steering column, Firestone white-wall tires, electric aerial, electric windows, Sundym glass, air conditioning, driver’s door mirror, hazard warning device, between-seats companion box and inertia-reel safety belts to the front seats. The car’s next recorded owner is Ms Sharon R Simon(s), variously a resident of New Orleans, Dallas and Beverly Hills who, documents indicate, owned it as early as 1980 and into the 1990s. The vendor acquired the car circa 2000. Finished in blue with beige leather interior, ‘CRX2672’ is offered with owner’s manual and, in addition to the aforementioned Rolls-Royce factory documentation, comes with service records dating back to 1997, including those relating to work carried out by Rolls-Royce/Bentley specialists Moyer Motorcars of Front Royal, VA and a repaint undertaken by Pro Finish Auto Body in December 2000." |

One great detail: In the movie, the Rolls-Royce wears Massachusetts plates "TC 100" -- TC for "Thomas Crown," of course, from a time when personal plates (initials, no words or "clever" sayings), were the height of chic. Crown's dune buggy also has personal plates: "TC 300." Wonderful touch. |

The car has been repainted in Oxford Blue approx. early 2000. Originally, the colour was Mason Black. I own his exact copy. |

Despite Bonhams, and others claims that the Silver Shadow coupé in the film is CRX2672, I can assure you that information is incorrect. CRX2672 was finished in Midnight Blue with a single Gold line. The car in the film is finished in Brewster Green 1, with Beige VM3234 hide, matching carpet and rugs, and a Gold fineline. It was originally owned by John Calley, who was a close friend of Haskell Wexler, who was the cinematographer on this film. I test drove the car in 1998; it was in a rather tired condition, but still original and in its Brewster Green paint, and still sporting its Lucas 'Flamethrower' headlamps. I will have to research the chassis number, but I do have it around somewhere. CRX2672, the Bressler car, has side repeater lights on the front wings. The Brewster Green car does not. |

silvawraith2 is right: The movie car doesn't have the side repeaters. (Attached is a shot from the final scene.) I wonder if they were added later to CRX2672? It's odd that Bonhams would present the auction car as the Thomas Crown car. Maybe the auction car was also used?
