Elles sont à l'honneur les Wrangler YG dans le film |
◊ 2005-08-30 22:50 |
YG, ou bien c'est YJ avec faute de frappe ? |
◊ 2006-06-25 03:38 |
Shouldn't it deserve 4 stars because these are driven by different characters? |
◊ 2006-06-25 12:27 |
Yes, it is well used. |
◊ 2006-09-08 07:57 |
It's not the same jeep though |
◊ 2006-09-08 10:48 |
No, they have at least three identical ones in the movie (and probably much more in the making of the movie...) |

Two Jeeps are used when to pick up the main characters when they arrive on the island by helicopter which leads to the scene where they first lay eyes on the Brachiosaurus. Denis Nedry steals one when he tries to get to the port to deliver the stolen embryos, instead he gets lost, gets stuck in the forest and ends being eaten alive inside the Jeep by the Dilophosaurus. Muldoon and Ellie Sattler use one to search for the others after the T-Rex attack, they find Malcolm then they escape from the pursuing T-Rex in the Jeep. At the end of the film, after the T-Rex saves Grant, Ellie, Tim and Lex from the Raptors, Hammond and Malcolm arrive outside the visitor's centre in one and they retreat to the helicopter to escape the island. So the Jeeps are pretty well used in the film. -- Last edit: 2007-01-14 15:04:20 |

I agree… |

God I loved this film as a kid, I remember it being really huge in 1993, and there was so much merchadise around, it's funny how you don't tend to notice all this kind of stuff as you get older, I played the Jurassic Park game on the Sega Mega Drive, and I still have the big "Making Of" book. Even today the specials effects for the T-Rex look as convincing as ever, since they used a combintion of CGI, full-size hydraulic models and minature modelwork, whereas nowadays far too many films just chuck in loads of (sometimes ropey) CGI, although it has come a long way since the early 90s, it still has some way to go before it looks 100% real. -- Last edit: 2007-01-14 15:03:33 |

The CGI of this movie were quite good, but they were also quite expensive. I agree that in recent movies CGI are often quite badly done. |
◊ 2007-01-02 20:58 |
CGI is even one of the best even nowadays, its been more than ten years since then and they are incredible. |

Here are some better detailed pictures of the 1993 Jeep Wrangler Saharas’ used in the movie. The interior views show the Jeeps are equipped with the "Sahara Edition" trim level package. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-01-06 03:03:23 |

◊ 2008-03-04 08:08 |
Actually they were all manual. |
◊ 2008-03-11 03:51 |
Don't they have the 4.0L I6 engine in them? |
◊ 2008-03-11 03:52 |
Notice that both the Jeeps & the Explorers have BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A tires on them. |

Why did they put an additional tail light on the Jeeps. If you look at the original tail light, there is another one right above it. |
◊ 2008-10-15 01:10 |
yes why is there a pair of orange lights on them? |

Does anybody recognize the font used for the inscriptions on the vehicles? -- Last edit: 2009-01-13 11:22:20 |

Lately, I've been wondering what the orange bar that wraps around the windshield was. When I took a look at Nedry's Jeep, it hit me. They're flood light mounts. I also have a theory about the extra set of tail lights. Notice, in all the pics, the red til lights are never on. I can't speak for the break lights because it's been a while since I've seen the movie and I don't think any of the pictures have the Jeeps breaking. I think the dinos may be sensitive to the color red and a pair of bright red lights might scare them. So, why paint the tops of the Explorers red? I've got that answered too. The Fords are battery powered (making them quiet) and run on a strict track. The Jeeps are gas powered (making them noisy) and roam wherever they please. Like I said, this is only a theory. ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-04-18 18:55:06 |

^^yep, the bar around the windshield is for lights, the lights mounted on top of the #12 Jeep are also motorized. Here is a replica Jeep I have made. http://www.jurassicparkjeep.com/lights/lights7.JPG http://www.jurassicparkjeep.com/lights/lights10.JPG http://www.jurassicparkjeep.com/rain/rain6.JPG -- Last edit: 2009-12-31 01:02:55 |

where did you get those lights. I have been searching forever |
◊ 2009-08-13 18:25 |
You made that? That's awesome!!! |
◊ 2009-08-14 02:30 |
^^yep, I made it. Thanks! |

No way!! We live in the same state. I'll keep an eye out for you're Jeep when I'm in the area. |
◊ 2009-10-22 18:16 |
They are called "Dust Lights" or "Collision Lights" white light reflects in the dust and red light gets absorbed but amber light cuts through the dust. It is the same theory as having amber fog lights. |

One thing about the jeep: in the scene where Muldoon and Ellie are searching for survivors after the t-rex attack, you might notice that the roll bar is removed. It's pictured above with Malcolm in the wrangler. Not sure why this was if it was for any other reason than to create more danger when the t-rex is chasing them...I believe that's why. interesting to note though. |

jishwa: I'm sure it was removed so they could do the scene where the Jeep smashes into the tree branch. |

The theory I've seen is because it alone among the four Jeeps seen is a utility vehicle and the lack of a roll cage (and indeed a backseat from what I can tell) is to have a completely open rear for cargo purposes. Though why InGen didn't just get a pickup truck is beyond me. |
◊ 2016-06-06 20:29 |
That particular jeep was the "vet -jeep". First spotted by Dr. Grant, parked next to the sick triceratops. It would make sense that Muldoon would use a vehicle that would contain medical equipment, when going on a rescue mission to find the surviors from the T-Rex encounter. It was lastly seen driven by Hammond, when leaving the island. ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2016-06-06 20:50:07 |

why Jada gives an extra set of wheels ? its the Explorer that gets its tires bitten by the T-Rex, not the Jeep.. ![]() looks nice, i wish i still had some place available ( but i do have the Matchbox one ) |
