I wonder where this scene was shot. Skodas and Ladas were sold in Canada so it doesn't have to be in Europe. |

Could be Canada. It has side markers and bigger bumpers. What's up with the Lada Nova (it's West German name) in the background, is there a better pic of it? So we can have look, if it's also a "made for CDN)-version. |

Or the cars could have been brought into the US from Canada. According to a trivia comment on the IMDB, almost everything was filmed in and around Chicago. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098051/trivia The Lada is in /vehicle_310558.html You can just about see the sidemarker, indicating that it's a Canadian spec model. |

It was just recently I heard about Canadian Skodas. Here is a brochure cover. http://www.flickr.com/photos/hugo90/4424630713/ I believe very few were sold. I remember an episode in McGyver which has a Skoda 120/130 in use. I hope someone adds picture someday. /vehicle_67710-Skoda-130-Typ-742M-1984.html |

As I remember, at my school-exchange to Vancouver in Summer 1988 I've seen some single Skoda's, and at least one Lada 1500, too. |

It is some 120. The grill is of European 120 LS indeed (although Euro LS never had plastic bumpers to me - not with this grill at least). By the bumpers, I guess about 1983. 130rapid perhaps will know something. ![]() -- Last edit: 2010-06-17 13:26:31 |

Only 120 GLS since 1982 model year had plastic bumpers, but grill indicating LS.I think, that Canadian-spec models can have plastic bumpers in all trim-level since this time, when GLS for european market had plastic bumpers. So provably about 1982 Canadian-spec 120 LS... |

Unfortunately the author's grasp of Skoda history is rather confused. ![]() |

Book about Skoda 105/120 from Jan Tuček that I got says these started to be sold in Canada in 1983. The 742M model came in the autumn, so this is the early 83 model. I only saw two other pics of it, it has to be quite rare... |
