If this is the same car as seen a minute before this scene, then I would date it at 1940/41. |

I had a look at this scene again and it's indeed either a 1940/41 Chevrolet or a Buick of the same vintage. Scene at 1:12:28: https://ok.ru/video/1289719122655 There is even a very good (but also very dark) closeup of the hood ornament. Of the four, it looks like a 1940 Buick the most, but still not quite right. |

After rewatching the scene multiple times, I am now sure it is a 1940 Buick. There are less grille bars and there appear to be parking lights on the fenders. On the Chevy the parking lights were next to the headlights. -- Last edit: 2021-08-22 20:11:33 |

But the roofline looks more like a sedanette, which would make this a 41 and not a 40. There is too much space behind the rear window for the 40 Business or Sport Coupe. I found a 41 Buick in the film "Ubiystve na ulitse Dante" from 1956, also by Mosfilm. I can't tell which body style it is but I think this might be the same car? Scene from 15:16 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHug8mK1zlo The company even still has a 41 Buick out for rent (that they mistakenly call a 40) which might be this car that was chopped sometime in 70 years?
