1965 Imperial, which would likely have a four or five star rating. -- Last edit: 2010-07-04 18:03:05 |

Imperial Crown?, like the original? |

In the most recent episode of Mythbusters, Seth Rogen was a guest and they tested myths related to Black Beauty being damaged or destroyed. |

I saw that episode and they destroyed 2 Imperials. They buried one then blew it up and the second they tried to cut in half by lifting it up on an elevator but it just crushed the roof. |

Hmm... the original was a 1966 Imperial Crown. I wonder why they didn't make this one a '66. |

The movie people used 1964-66 models. They used like 30 and made them look like the black beauty. |

Mazda MPV on the left? |

Yeah I just saw the episode dut I dont know if i shoud thank you for telling me about it or if I shot punch you right in the face because I was so pissed when I saw them smash two great looking Imperial Crown's just because Seth Roggers wanted to know if the over the top scenes from this movie were possible in real life it is still a fun Mythbusters episode but it is weary painfull to watch because of the two Imperial Crown's getting wrecked specely knowing that they coud just use two more expendable cars then these classics and no I am not going to punch you in the face but I am going to punch Seth Rogers in the face oh yeah |

I just heard in an interview one of the movie crew guys saying that they had lots of cars, when they wreck one they take the new one, these cars being old were quite cheap |

I guess so, when the movie budget is $120 million, the cost of each car is pretty insignificant |
◊ 2011-01-19 23:55 |
But the loss to automotive history isn't. I recently heard quite a number of '64 to '66 Imperials were destroyed during the making of this movie. (Shades of "Christine"?) I cringe whenever I hear about a classic car being featured in a movie these days, fearing that still more will be forever lost to the wrecking yard. |
◊ 2011-01-20 00:54 |
In fact 29 Imperials were used in the filming and almost all got destroyed. Let us hope there will be no sequel. |

Twenty-Nine??? That beats even "Christine's" record. Appalling. -- Last edit: 2011-01-20 02:08:30 |

One of the Green Hornet cars was used in a episode of Jay Leno's Garage here is a link enjoy Link to "www.jaylenosgarage.com" |

in a movie, it was reffered to as a 1965 Chrysler. |

That's because the average movie-goer is automotively illiterate and wouldn't know what an Imperial was if it ran them down in the street. Fortunately, we at IMCDb are not average. |

Wouldn't "freaky" or rather "eccentric" be a more appropriate term? |

I forgot it was a Imperial. I was so pissed one day Syfy was re-runing the tv series because I couldn't remember. THey didn't even have it's make and model displayed when it was up here at Carl Caspers Auto show. I know what you mean CRAFT, I hate when they fuck up good cars, especially the GMC New Look for the speed stuff they we're doing. It was already proven that the bus made that jump in real life, and the fact it's not very top heavy nor did it have a/c that it could take a 40mph turn especially when the only thing giving the Firestone Metropolitan tires grip is the weight of the 11k lb bus itself. |

Even more appalling, they replaced the original motors with Chevy big blocks! WHATS WRONG WITH THEM!!! Whats wrong with the original motors! At least the motors were destroyed with the cars. -- Last edit: 2011-03-31 16:01:33 |

That was "brilliant"... |
◊ 2011-04-13 03:10 |
They used Imperials in the TV series because....they existed, and were a current model. WHY couldn't the new film use late model Chrysler 300s? |
◊ 2011-04-13 16:23 |
I agree with you |

Watched the bonus feature on the DVD, they show the build up of the ~30 cars. 500hp Chevrolet "ZZ454" crate motors, turbo 400 transmissions, 9" rear ends with lockers, they even show where one was ALMOST destroyed filming the final sequence in the movie where the Green Hornet peels out in front of The Sentinel building, has its throttle stick, and plows into a wall. Yet drives away. -- Last edit: 2011-05-06 06:08:13 |
