This was from the first edition of top gear. It was only locally broadcasted in the midlands monthly.

Anyone else remember when Top Gear was the late night Radio 1 show for 70s rock music?? I've still got a Soft Machine session on a cassette somewhere .... If anyone could ever get captures from Wheelbase - the BBC car programme of the 60s-70s - they could be fun.

@dsl: did you know, that for the Capri MkII even an own jingle was composed? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANyWEXLo6u8 You hear the "Capri Zwei".
As I've heard (but only by rumour), he http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaus_Doldinger had composed it. I'm sure, he's not unknown for you ;)
His most popular composition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkgtA30tZn8

Never heard of him - he must be foreign or something. But Das Boot was superb. Have an old favourite which is always worth revisiting in reply - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoa3OTJfWIY .

That theme was composed by Roy Budd IIRC - who had a jazz-background just like Doldinger. As far as I`m concerned, Doldinger`s finest hour was this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvalGxHcgCw -especially the Fender Rhodes-part from 1:15 on.
@ingo: I`m sorry but AFAIK it was rather Christian Bruhn who wrote the Capri II- jingle: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Bruhn#Schlager
@dsl: This was Doldinger's band that gained at least a bit international attention- among jazz enthusiasts, that is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passport_(band)

@cl82: oh, yes, you're correct. Yes, he was responsible for a plenty of 1970-memories: Link to "www.youtube.com" (incl.the jingle for the Ford Taunus [TC1]

I don't really do jazz, but occasionally something slips under the wires. This week it's something German as well - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd6JVdrihKw

I never heard Buddy Bolden say that!

I'm afraid that the Kraftwerke derivative leaves me completely unmoved, the drummer is too extrovert.

To come back to topic (noone should have in mind to provoke the holy anger of the Mr.admin  ):
Annoyingly  I cannot find the Youtube of this VW-made commercial of the 1971 model range (a few scenes we have in the database, as /vehicle_289708-Volkswagen-1600-Typ-31-1971.html ). The music there was composed indeed by Klaus Doldinger.

@johnfromStaffs, @dsl: thanks for the links, but cl82 and me aren't allowed to watch them [:kiki]

P.S. Here the mentioned Ford Taunus [TC1]-jingle: Link to "www.youtube.com"
Extreme-70ies-ish, eeh? :king:

I hope that you watched Jazz 625 last night, then. Marian McPartland and Oscar Peterson, should have made your evening.
