In effect, lightfoot,I recall the nose of that series of cars with quad round lights, not two squared(could be even the lights of a '70s Ford Cortina 6??) PS On the same coque(of saloon),modified,Mazda will realize,in 1975,the Roadpacer,an attempt(failed)to make a luxury limo with rotary engine(put out of production in 1980) |

this is a 1975 Holden HJ Sandman (the HJ was made from 1974 to 1976) front end has been replaced with the front end from a HZ Statesman, originally the van would have had a twin headlight front. |

Holden HJ Panelvan. HJ Caprice front with ford xc gxl headlights. 308 V8 with M21 manual 4 speed. Interior gts options including full instrument sports dash, gts steering wheel, hj bucket seats and full length console. GTS fenders. 1970 era luggage rack with runners. ROH Wild fire rims in 14" with BF Goodrich tyres. 265/50/14 on the rear and 245/50/14 on the front. Air brushing on one side only as the car was owned privately and the owner could not afford to get it finished prior to the movie shoot. The did not have enough money to buy the van for the movie so they made the payments on the van for the duration of filming. I have no further information about what happened to the van after filming. Hope this helps. Max_Van -- Last edit: 2009-05-08 11:38:54 |

Thanks Max_Van for the info, this particular van is an HJ, and the original headlights for the HJ were singles (not twin) and they would have had black headlight surrounds for Sandmans, and chrome for standard. -- Last edit: 2010-04-29 14:49:36 (antp) |

My dad thinks that Jess and Sprog should have stayed in the car when the bad guys were after them. But I tell him "Considering the way the bad guys attacked and destroyed that Bel Air, Max's wife and child would still be screwed anyway." |
