This is a 1937 model. |

Looks as if we need to be more consistent in naming Oldsmobiles. Is this an Olds Six chassis F-37 (F37?) or is it an Olds F Series Sedan (with chassis code F-37 or body code 373609). At present we have a mix of the two. |

The commercial name for them was Oldsmobile Six, or Oldsmobile Eight. http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/olds/37s/bilder/1.jpg http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/olds/37olds/bilder/1.jpg F-37 was the chassiscode, and the bodycode for the 4-door slantback was, as you said, 373609. It was sold as 4-door Sedan: http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/olds/37s/bilder/9.jpg I have a good referencebook on Oldsmobile, covering 1897-1981 but I havn´t had time to check up this before. But I think it´s correct to call them Six or Eight up till 1938 and put F/L-numbers in the chassiscode field. Bodycode could be mentioned in the comments, and the bodys commercial name; Sedan, Touring Sedan, Business Coupe would go into extra info. I can look it over, but it won´t be before the next couple of weeks. -- Last edit: 2010-08-03 10:59:26 |
