Additional image:![]() They used two different Edsels for the movie and it's suppose to be the same car. The other Edsel is located here: /vehicle.php?id=32010 |

I believe the Sedan was known as a Pacer and the hardtop was called a Ranger |

This '58 Edsel hardtop is a Ranger with the Fairlane roof trim. The Pacers had the Fairlane 500 roof trim. The car they crashed is obviously a '59 Ranger disguised as a '58 by way of the painted on side scallops. |

This movie company used *at least* three different Edsels (probably more) and we can see two of the 1958's here. The main posting is a Ranger four-door sedan...look at the C-pillar treatment: a rear-slanting rear door upper window line with a vertical divider near the aft of the door separating the moving glass from the fixed. The extra shot by qwerty_86 shows a Pacer four-door hardtop...the C-pillar slants forward at the aft edge of the door, and has the circular Edsel shield emblem which was absent on the 1958 Ranger four-door hardtop, although in most other respects it was identical to Pacer. 1958 Pacers and Rangers were available in the same corresponding body styles with the exceptions of the convertible (Pacer and Citation, but not Ranger or Corsair in 1958) and the Ranger-only two-door sedan (all three model years). -- Last edit: 2008-05-14 08:16:49 |
