So much for "standing out" when you drive a red Corvette down the street in that town. |

PRODUCT PLACEMENT!! |

It's so tacked on, it's in the final 20 seconds of the film, it's like the studio said "Hang on, we haven't really featured any GM products in this movie, let's have Adam Sandler buy everyone Corvettes!" |

"LIVE FREE OR DIE". That's a weird slogan for a state! If you look closely at the main picture, you'll see that most of the Corvettes still have blank Chevrolet company plates on them. Obviously loaned from dealerships. Steve Buscemi slums it: -- Last edit: 2013-02-01 20:50:42 |

It dates from the War of Independence, when the Americans were the insurgents. |

Buscemi slums it. [/quote] "Damn, these things are fast!" then he revs up and crashes into a tree. |

Not that sitting in a Corvette is slumming it, I meant when he appears in crappy Adam Sandler films. He should be making more Coen Brothers or Tarantino films. |

Actually in a lot of states when you buy a new car from the dealership you can drive with the dealerships tag on it until your perminant tags come in (ususally 30 days) -- Last edit: 2013-02-01 20:51:15 (G-MANN) |

So the how the hell can that car be indentified by police if it's driving around with fake plates on? That's unbelievable! In the UK you'd get done if you drove around without a numberplate on each end of the car, but in America you don't even seem to need a plate on the front bumper. |

Thats not acceptable/legal in many states, I know in Florida, we issue a paper temporary tag that has the dealer name and registration number, vehicle "Id" number, and date of sale. Normally these tags are only good for 30-40 days. If there are no issues with a trade-in title, then tag work takes about 1 week, when its replaced with a state issued metal tag. |

A Paper numberplate? |
◊ 2006-09-18 00:06 |
in North Carolina is is the same way as Florida with the temporary tag but I know when I lived in bought a van in Georgia i left the dealership tag on the van and had a temp registration that i had to tape to the rear window until the metal plate came in. I have seen this with dealerships from a lot of different states (mostly from the north) as I live in a resort area and see alot of out-of-state cars. |

What if someone commits a crime in a car like this, wouldn't it be difficult to get a plate number? |
◊ 2006-09-18 00:11 |
and after alittle research aprox 30 of the 50 us states require front plates |
◊ 2006-09-18 00:16 |
If you plan to commit a crime, you keep your own real plate anyway? |
◊ 2006-09-18 04:05 |
What I meant was it would be hard for witnesses and police to spot the vehicle's registration when all there is is a bit of paper in the back window. |

This scene takes place in New Hampshire but it was shot in New Milford, Connecticut. The filmmakers put out newspaper ads inviting anybody with a red C5 Corvette to drive to the location and have their car featured in the movie. Since the movie is supposed to take place in New Hampshire it wouldn't make sense to have a bunch of Connecticut and New York license plates, which I imagine is why they placed all the generic plates on those cars. |

In CA the temp regisration goes on the windshield. Here it can take up to 6 to 8 weeks to get the metal license plates. |

GTA moment. You drive a rare car then it's everywhere (not saying Corvettes are rare, although there are owners out there that like to brag otherwise) |
