1929 Bentley 4.5 litre "blower" Le Mans racer. Works cars of this type won in 1929 and 1930, but not as far as I can tell with #8. This may be a genuine Le Mans car or a look-alike from the period. If the registration is UR 6571 it was part of the Ralph Lauren collection and exhibited at the "Speed, Style, and Beauty: Cars from the Ralph Lauren Collection" exhibition at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in March-July 2005. |

Not sure where the reference HR3976 suddenly came from, but it works as the chassis number for the 1930 Le Mans entry, race number 8, registration UR 6571 as a 4.5 litre blower Bentley. Entered by the works-supported team funded by Dorothy Paget and driven by Dudley Benjafield/Guilio Ramponi, it started 12th on grid but retired with engine problems. |
