◊ 2006-05-14 13:38 |
Originally this car was named just ZIM,and still no one call it GAZ1 2 |
◊ 2006-05-14 14:22 |
well, guys, how to list it? as ZIM? :-)) martin |
◊ 2006-05-14 18:21 |
Even if nobody calls it "GAZ 12", it seems common on internet. And as the car was produced by GAZ... |

When production of car started, factory was called ZIM! Later it was switched to GAZ,but models came with M letter in name. When Molotov was kicked-off,they lost M letter and... |

ah, a molotov-factor ;-))) well, for listing it maybe could help to use the signs, they had at last time of production. :-)) martin |

All letterings, including letterings on wheelcovers says ZIM. And in old encyclopedia of 1951 year it means as ZIM. |

And it's limo too,not a sedan |

you are right: three windows! http://www.van.at/flame/flame03/set01/b227.htm really a big rig! :-)) martin -- Last edit: 2006-05-15 22:49:26 |

Note that the "three window" definition is not the only definition. It is the French definition, and so it does not especially works in all cases ![]() There was a debate about that, by the way: http://imcdb.opencommunity.be/forum_topic-6-Limousines.html |

interesting debate. I think, it makes sense, taking 3 or more lateral windows as a criteria for this term on THIS project / site. this is a very *american point of view*, but it works well for a database. we would get mad, using all those different ways of naming bodies / coachwork, as it was still used in europe. even as we dont have terms like "fullsizer" and so on. :-)) martin |

And that:actually at moment plant was named Gorkovsky Avtomobilnuy Zavod Imeni Molotova...so GAZ and ZIM just two abbrevations of same name....I really like it. Looks like they made it to confuse us. |

we should write to the director and tell him to clear that situation. ;-)) martin |

It does not work all the time. But if you give a higher priority to hatchback, and then if it is not a hatchback but that it has 3 window it is a limo, it may work. (to exclude the Renault 4 from limousines for example, as it is a limousine according to french definition, but not really what we would put in the "limousine" category) -- Last edit: 2006-05-16 10:00:01 |
