This picture is confusing. Regular traffic indeed, and looks like US plates too. But what's a tank doing there on the streets? |

I think we've got this pic (or similar) in something else, maybe Scottish or Glasgow. Doesn't look like "The Battle of George Square" in Jan 1919. More likely explanation is that in WW1 there were government schemes to sponsor a tank, where cities and towns patriotically raised cash to "buy" a tank for the army. When it was "bought", it was then paraded round the town/city to thank the cheering crowds before being sent into battle. |
