![]() Mack? though I don't remember what army it is. The fact is that this picture appears in the first part of the film, during 1914-1916 period, when USA is not directly involved yet in the conflict. Now, did UK or french army used US machines ? or is it an anachronism in setting of the film? or more simply, not a US truck? but french? ![]() |

Definitely looks like Doughboys on a Mack to me. The use of equipment was the other way around... we used everybody else's because Uncle Sam showed up for the gun fight armed with a pocket knife! I wouldn't use where the sequence appears in the show as a guide to the actual date it was taken. If I had a nickle for every time I've seen a military documentary use footage out of context or chronology I'd be eating nickle soup 3 meals a day. Most film makers are thoroughly unfamiliar with the finer points of military subject matter, and just use whatever footage best fits the dialog (ie: showing a Spitfire being shot down while talking about the air battles over Guadalcanal, T-34s advancing in through the snow in the Battle of the Bulge, Tommies at Bataan, etc.). -- Last edit: 2011-02-18 05:46:01 |
