Not sure if the two yellow pickups are the same model or not... |

The one to the left is a 1985-1987 (possibly 1988 model) Chevrolet C/K-Series truck. The one to the right is a Dodge model. It's up to you which one you want listed. I personally like the Chevrolet more as the front end is more prominent. But any additional shots would help (including of the tires if possible). |

They are not much more visible than that in the movie so just listing the Chevrolet will be enough I guess, thanks for the info ![]() |

For the record, the Chevrolet looks like a K-Series, possibly a K-30. Would it be a 1-ton model with those side mirrors? I hope some of our GM truck experts can weigh in (tonka, Neptune ![]() |

Its a K-Series for sure (or possibly even a V-Series) The factory front bumper has been replaced by a aftermarket utility bumper which integrated winch. Its possible that it’s a 1-ton as that seems to be what most airports (then) used. For sure it’s a Custom Deluxe Fleetside model. |

How do you know it's a Fleetside? Couldn't it possibly be a chassis-cab model also? I have never seen any 3/4-ton models with those side mirrors. I definitely think it's a 1-ton truck. |

I suppose it could be a cab & chassis unit, but I don’t see a utility box. If it is a pickup, it would have the Fleetside box, not Stepside. |

Okay. I think it's safe to say that it's a K-30 Custom Deluxe then, agreed? (Or a V-30 if it's a 1987-1988 model). |
◊ 2010-09-17 04:24 |
1988-1991 would be V-3500, not V-30. But yes I agree. |

1988 models were still known as R/V-30's and were the last models to be named with the Custom Deluxe trim. 1989 models were the first to use four digits in the model name and abandoned the Custom Deluxe trim name. Here's a brochure for 1988 R/V-30's: http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/chevy/88truck/12.html You yourself taught me this a while back ![]() |

Hey, I’m entitled to make a mistake every now and then; I’m not perfect you know ... ![]() |

If anything, I was giving you credit for having told me that in the first place ![]() |

@ ford guy @ Neptune since both of you guys are here the is something I have been wanting to ask you guys. I thought about this the other day when Neptune and I were talking about Chevrolet Dually/Big Dooley on another page. Shouldn't we be listing the Chev DRW trucks as Fleetside Big Dooley as seen in the brochure linked by ford_guy? I mean we use the 'proper manufacturer's name' on everything else. -- Last edit: 2010-09-17 19:57:27 |

We could name Big Dooley, I don’t mind. GM did refer to them as "Big Dooley". I would support either listing. |
◊ 2010-09-17 23:10 |
seeing how that is how it is written in the brochure I think that 'Big Dooley' should be how we write it here as well. |

So both GMC's and Chevy's used that name? For the entire 1973-1991 run? |
◊ 2010-09-18 03:07 |
Yep, here is a ad for the 1973 Chevy: ![]() |
◊ 2010-09-18 03:27 |
This road test article seems to indicate that GMC used that name too ...![]() ![]() ... but I haven’t found any GMC brochures yet. Maybe 'tonka can find some ... EDIT: he’s deleted his comment again ![]() -- Last edit: 2010-09-18 03:28:38 |

Sorry Neptune...I realized that I was using an 'unofficial source' about the 1992+ models using the big dooley name so I deleted the comment ![]() |

Well "Big Dooley" it is then. I wish there was a way to do some sort of batch update but it seems to complicated in this case. Unless antp weighs in somehow. |
