It was sold under both the Kaiser and AMC marques. Chrysler had bought out American Motors in 1987 which was when they started production of the Wagoneer and the Cherokee XJ. XJ indicated the compact Cherokee and SJ indicated the full-sized Cherokee. -- Last edit: 2011-10-03 00:05:37 |

Well while Chrysler did purchase AMC in 1987 the XJ Wagoneer and Cherokee were AMC designed models and began production in 1984 |

How was it possible for them to be designed by Chrysler in 1987 if they were manufactured (and therefore designed) by AMC (in 1984) before Chrysler was even in the picture? |

I understand the dynamics of Jeep and it's ownership. .gif ";)") What you said in your post (before it was edited) was that the XJ was designed by Chrysler in 1987 and all I was saying was that since the XJ was designed by AMC before Chrysler purchased Jeep then it could not have been also then designed Chrysler. |
