![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ..This is easily done...and you don't even feel the car being crushed...I know..I've done it.! ![]() (note:-..it is an older Mini that gets crushed.!) -- Last edit: 2006-05-20 04:21:53 |

..I didn't reverse into anything.! ..I was making a left turn ...and a (woman driver.!) tried to pass me as I turned (the bus having a 11 ft overhang ... she didn't make it passed.!! ..her car (daewoo.!!) ...had both of it's door on one side completely crushed in ... only a few scratches on the bus.!! (..I had a full load of passengers at the time ..making the weight around 15 tons.!...the same as a Double decker.!) ..it wasn't in a double decker...but a New Scania Omnicity single decker (..I believe among the longest single deck buses used in the UK ..apart from the bendies.!!) Here's a pic of one (..and the company I worked for ..up until december last year.!) ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-05-19 17:28:16 |

I've seen this a few times, & wondered if it was a mock-up or not. |

It looks a little crude, doesn't it? I would guess that it's an engine-less wreck that has been roughly made up to look like the original. Bus bodies aren't strong enough to crush a mini engine and suspension that completely without showing some effect, surely? |

Isn't it unusual for London buses to have Essex registrations? |

Ah, I remember now. They aren't London buses, are they? |

It looks like the bus on the left has had a thick steel plate added to the side where the mini is crushed into. Obviously the buses were still in use and they had to minimize damage to them! |

According to the Wikipedia Luxton was supposed to be in Essex, as often real place names in Essex were mentioned. Until I read the above I had assumed that OTB was set in the northern home counties, as this area was often used for location shots for the films (I've not seen too much of the TV series). |

Strange grilles. Looks like an added Mk2 grille with straight edges (but without the edging) in main and first thumb, then when crushed is an Austin Mk1 half-round with wavy bars. Plus Mini Vans never had chrome grilles, just a painted panel with slats. GJB 253C was genuine Berkshire issue - Sept-Oct 1965 - no trace now. |
