On the Mercedes-Benz UK website they call it "SLR McLaren" rather than "McLaren SLR" Does it have the same "R171" chassis-code as the SLK? -- Last edit: 2006-05-24 10:20:59 |

..if it was up to me.. I would call it McLaren Mercedes-Benz SLR ...as they are all Hand-made in Mclaren's UK headquarters..! ![]() ..I would not think it was the same chassis as the SLK ...the SLR ..seems much bigger.! -- Last edit: 2006-05-24 10:26:21 |

Yes but as they are sold by Mercedes-Benz as a "SLR McLaren" I guess it is better to use that name. Like old Renault Espace models which were designed and made by Matra, but sold as Renault. |

I'd guess it's either because AMG has more experience with V8s, or because the 8 is lighter than a 12. |
